We offer email hosting as an optional addon, below is the configuration to use when configuring your email hosting in DNS.
MX Record
Configure a single MX record with priority 5
Point this MX record to:
mx.yourdomain.com.cust.hostedemail.com
This is customised for your domain. Replace the yourdomain.com part with your domain name.
**Before changing DNS records its good practice to take a screenshot or copy/paste of the previous records in case you need to rollback the settings for any reason.
Webmail Access
Webmail is available at https://mail.hostedemail.com
Use your email address and password to log into.
Email passwords can be changed via the Webmail user interface underneath Settings->Password as per screenshot below
SPF Records
To ensure your email is not marked as spam or blocked by the recipient email system its important to setup an SPF record for your email hosting.
If you don’t have an SPF record at all in your DNS hosting, add a new TXT record as below
v=spf1 mx include:_spf.hostedemail.com ~all
If you already have an SPF record, DO NOT add a second record. Instead, update the existing record with the part below. Add it before the -all or ~all or ?all bit on the end of the record
include:_spf.hostedemail.com
IMAP, SMTP and POP servers
Use the same server for IMAP, SMTP and POP email – the server name is mail.hostedemail.com
**We recommend using IMAP for email which stores a copy of the email on the server. This allows you to use multiple devices to access your email in addition to webmail and have your email sync across all devices.
Your username is your email address and the same password that you use for webmail is used here.
Port numbers – we recommend ALWAYS using SSL to ensure your logon details and email is secure as possible.
SSL Enabled | SSL disabled | TLS | |
IMAP | 993 | 143 | n/a |
POP3 | 995 | 110 | n/a |
SMTP | 465 | 8025 | 587 |
Mailbox Size & Sending/Receiving Size Limits
The standard mailbox size is 5gb
Our SMTP sending and POP3/IMAP receiving limits are 35mb per email.
